How to Read Bibs-- and NOT the Lobster, Baby, or Bird Types In-Person
Learn how to deconstruct the bibliographic record in the Library catalog and identify its various components such as author/creator, title, publisher, description, summary/abstract, subjects, etc. You’ll see how you can limit your catalog search to find a specific resource type like a book, ebook, streaming video, model, or journal. We'll also peek at the behind-the-scenes coding of bibliographic records, known as MARC.
Participants will:
- Identify the components of a bibliographic record discovered in the Library catalog.
- Limit a search in the Library catalog by a specific format.
This session is presented by Mary Konkel, Professor/Head of Technical Services.
