"Indigenous Cultural Surge: The Recent Expansion of Visibility & Impact of Native Contributions in Literature" by Mark Turcottee In-Person

The last 10-15 years has seen a dramatic change in the visibility of Native art making, especially with the proliferation of the numbers of writers who are being published in all genres, as well as those writing for Native films and TV series. Renowned Native writer, scholar, and the current Illinois Poet Laureate, Mark Turcotte (Turtle Mountain Band Anishinaabe) will share samples of his poetry, followed by a presentation on how the recent surge of indigenous written and cultural works has happened and what that success looks like for Native creators.
